Certification & Legal Authority
Celebrant Academy provides education and certification in the craft of ceremony. Our training focuses on ceremony writing, ritual creation, public speaking, inclusivity, ethics, and professional celebrancy practice.
Upon completion of your coursework, you'll receive a Celebrant Academy certificate recognizing your successful completion of the program and your training in contemporary celebrancy.
It's important to understand that celebrant training does not grant legal authority to officiate weddings. That authority is determined by local laws and typically comes through ordination or another recognized legal role.
Many of our students choose to pursue endorsement through the Humanist Society or ordination through American Marriage Ministries (AMM). Because marriage laws vary by state and locality, we encourage all students to research the requirements where they plan to officiate.
